zablodela štorklja
zvok letal ki pristajajo
in vzletajo

what is a stork doing in a winter haiga, you might ask. well, not much since this is not about winter, it's about solitude, which was the assigned theme for the WHR submissions. and this haiku happened to be selected the best in the themed category (ok, i'll stop now).

more good news

this is hardly news anymore, but the new issue of the World Haiku Review has been a success for my blogging buddies masago and bill as well as for me (especially considering i hadn't been writing haiku for more than six months when these works were submitted). masago's haiku was editor's joint best of the best choice for the issue and bill's work is profusely represented in all categories. congratulations to both of them.

below are my two haiku selected into best ten in the general and kigo (leaves changing colour) categories respectively, this time with slovenian translation:

first chill
a spider weaves his web
under the neon light

prvi mraz
pajek si spleta mrežo
pod neonsko lučjo

***

grey morning
the first yellow birch leaf
behind the wiper

sivo jutro
prvi rumen brezov list
za brisalcem
